Dear EUSD Families,
Today, all nine EUSD schools participated in the Great California ShakeOut, a statewide and national earthquake preparedness drill designed to help students and staff practice important safety procedures in the event of an emergency.
In addition to practicing earthquake safety and evacuation procedures, each school responded to a unique simulated emergency scenario, such as injuries, missing students or staff, or damage to facilities. Meanwhile, our District Office team operated a central command center, coordinating communication, resources, and support with each school in real time. These exercises allow our teams to practice their emergency response plans, strengthen coordination, and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to talk with your child about today's drill. Ask them what they practiced, what they learned, and how they would respond during an earthquake. This is also a great opportunity to review your family's emergency preparedness plans, discuss safe places in your home, and make sure everyone knows what to do and how to reconnect in the event of an emergency.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priorities. While we hope we never have to put these emergency procedures into action, practicing together helps ensure our schools are prepared to respond effectively when it matters most. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our school communities safe!
