Dear EUSD Families,
EUSD has worked toward greater alignment of our school calendar with our feeder high school district, San Dieguito Union High School District (SDUHSD). Aligning our calendars helps support positive student attendance and makes it easier for families with children attending schools in both districts to plan vacations, childcare, and other activities.
As part of these ongoing efforts, the EUSD Board of Trustees approved the 2027-2028 school calendar at its October 13, 2026, meeting. The approved calendar includes several important changes that bring us closer to alignment with SDUHSD.
Key changes to the 2027-2028 calendar include:
- Presidents’ Week Break: Students will have no school from February 21–28, 2028, including Monday, February 28. This extended break aligns with SDUHSD’s calendar.
- Spring Break: Spring Break will be shortened from two weeks to one week and one additional day, with no school from March 31 through April 7, 2028. These dates will now align with SDUHSD's Spring Break.
These changes reflect feedback gathered through last year's family calendar survey. An overwhelming majority of respondents favored keeping EUSD's one-week Fall Break in October while reducing Spring Break by one week. The newly approved calendar maintains our traditional Fall Break while incorporating these adjustments.
With these changes, the number of school days when EUSD and SDUHSD have different schedules has been reduced from 18 to 12 days per year, bringing us closer to our goal of greater calendar alignment.
The approved calendar continues to provide 180 student instructional days and 185 certificated staff days.
The 2027-2028 Family Calendar is listed below for your reference and is also available on the District website. Please note that there are no changes to the current 2026-2027 school calendar.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to create a school calendar that best serves our students and families.
