EUSD UPDATES ~ May 2, 2025

|
|
Dear EUSD Community,
Next week, our district will be celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and I want to take this opportunity to recognize all of our incredible EUSD employees. Every day, our staff go above and beyond to ensure that our students are learning, growing, and thriving. Their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment are what make EUSD such a special place—they truly are the heart of our district. From our teachers in the classroom, who work tirelessly to create meaningful learning opportunities for students, to support staff who ensure that EUSD operates at its best, we are lucky to have so many talented people in this district. It's clear from everything they do that they care deeply about their roles and the lives they touch. I’m reminded of this every day as I visit school sites.
We are especially proud to announce the outstanding individuals who have been selected as Teachers of the Year and Classified Employees of the Year at their respective sites, as well as our District Teacher of the Year, Classified Employee of the Year, and Administrator of the Year. These individuals exemplify the values of EUSD and were nominated by their colleagues for their exceptional contributions and the positive impact they have made on our students and district community.
Please join me in congratulating each of them on their well-earned recognition. Their commitment to excellence is inspiring! We look forward to the opportunity to celebrate them at a special award recognition event later this month.
As we head into this special week of celebration, I hope each of our incredible employees feels seen, valued, and appreciated.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D. Superintendent

6th Graders at Mission Estancia Lead Change at Inaugural UN Global Summit
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, our Mission Estancia 6th-grade students proudly participated in the Inaugural UN Global Summit at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. This special event was the result of a collaboration between the superintendents of four San Diego County school districts, with the vision of bringing together students to lead conversations around important global issues.
Fifty 6th graders from each participating district were selected to attend. Mission Estancia was proud to represent EUSD. Thanks to the generous support of local San Diego businesses, all costs for the venue, transportation, and food were fully covered, making this incredible experience accessible to all students.
Leading up to the event, our students engaged in a deep learning project centered on Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure Healthy Lives and Promote Well-Being for All at All Ages. In class, they conducted research, explored creative solutions, and built expertise around this global issue. Working in teams, students developed presentations highlighting the causes behind health and well-being challenges and proposed meaningful actions to address them.
At the Summit, our students confidently shared their findings and led thoughtful conversations with peers from across the county. They also created interactive table displays, engaging both students and visitors at the Fleet Science Center. Their hard work and passion shone brightly throughout the day, demonstrating their growth as skilled communicators, confident collaborators, innovative thinkers, global citizens, wellness advocates, and empowered learners.
This authentic experience gave our students an opportunity to deepen their knowledge, practice leadership, and make connections between their learning and real-world challenges. We are so proud of their outstanding work and the difference they are already making in their communities.

The EUSD Math24 District-Wide Tournament brought together more schools and students than ever before, filling LCH's MPR with enthusiastic 3rd–6th grade participants from eight schools across the district. It was inspiring to see so many young mathematicians eager to showcase their skills in this exciting competition. Congratulations to all the students who competed, and a special shoutout to our winners! We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Encinitas Education Foundation, our incredible Math 24 committee and site representatives whose hard work made the event such a success.

The school community was invited into the sprawling farm, the largest in the Encinitas Union School District besides the Farm Lab, to explore life before plastic and learn ways to be more green at home by reducing, recycling and reusing.
