Paul Ecke Central Rebuild Update
|
|
|
|
This summer, our teams were hard at work preparing for the temporary relocation of Paul Ecke Central (PEC) students and staff to Park Dale Lane and El Camino Creek during the school’s rebuild project. Classrooms, offices, and campus spaces at PEC were packed and moved, portable classrooms were installed at El Camino Creek and Park Dale Lane, the Park Dale Lane kitchen was expanded, and spaces at El Camino Creek were reconfigured to accommodate additional classrooms and offices. We are incredibly grateful to our Facilities, Maintenance and Operations, Business Services, Technology, and school site teams for the tremendous coordination and effort that has made these preparations possible.
Although the Paul Ecke Central rebuild project experienced some delays, we are thrilled to share that the project is moving forward and demolition has begun. We are working closely with the City and our priority will continue to be returning students to PEC as soon as possible. We remain committed to keeping our school community informed and will continue to share updates as new information and timelines become available.

Over the summer, 133 students joined our Summer Language Academy to grow their English and Spanish skills in a fun, camp-themed setting! With small classes, strong community, and joyful learning, students built confidence and made incredible progress. Thank you to all of our teachers and staff who made this learning opportunity so impactful and enjoyable for our students!

This summer, 76 students from all nine EUSD elementary schools came together for four weeks of learning, connection and growth through the District’s Extended School Year (ESY) program. Led by Student Support Services, ESY provides specialized instruction and support to help students maintain progress and build confidence heading into the new school year. Guided by this year’s theme, “Shine Together – Celebrating Growth, Belonging and Joy,” students were supported by a caring team of educators, therapists, specialists and instructional support staff who helped make the summer meaningful and fun.
The program wrapped up with its 27th Annual ESY Summer Olympics, a beloved tradition that brings students, families and staff together for a joyful celebration. Students kicked off the morning with a Parade of Athletes, proudly displaying classroom banners inspired by this year’s theme, before rotating through adapted Olympic-style activities including basketball, water games, ring toss, an obstacle course, and more. The Summer Olympics provided a fitting conclusion to a summer centered on helping students shine, grow and experience a strong sense of belonging. A special thank you to all of the incredible staff who make this program possible for our students each year!

Encinitas Education Foundation Update
|
The Encinitas Education Foundation (EEF) is currently undergoing a transition following the resignation of Executive Director Michelle Bay. With District support, the Foundation is using this opportunity to strengthen processes that will enhance EEF's long-term success. Over the summer, the EEF Transition Task Force was formed and worked diligently to revise the Foundation's structure, governance handbook, and operating procedures to better support our schools and chapters. Throughout this process, the task force carefully considered concerns raised by stakeholders, wish lists submitted by school sites, and best practices from neighboring districts to build a stronger foundation. As a result, improvements have been made including the plan to hire two paid part-time positions of Executive Director and a Bookkeeper. These positions will be advertised soon.
Every year our sites have provided enriching opportunities for our students through EEF! From STEM teachers to additional intervention support teachers to lunch time sports, these programs matter to children. Your support of EEF makes them possible. We appreciate the valuable partnership of our volunteers, donors, EEF Board, EEF reps and families and look forward to working together this year.

District and School Communications
|
We want to partner with you! An important part of this partnership is ongoing communication and collaboration between home and school. Throughout the year, we encourage you to stay connected through the following district communication channels:
Email: The District and your child's school will regularly send emails with important updates, announcements, and reminders. District emails, including districtwide updates and our biweekly newsletter, will come from EUSDCommunications@eusd.net. Emails from your principal and school will come from their specific addresses. Please note that opting out of emails from any EUSD addresses will prevent you from receiving important communications from your school and the District. Meaning that if you opt-out of District emails, you will also be opting out of receiving school-wide emails from your site or principal. We kindly ask that, if possible, you remain subscribed so you don't miss important information.
Text Messages and Phone Calls: Parents and staff may occasionally receive text messages or automated phone calls from their school or the District. These messages allow us to communicate quickly and efficiently, especially during emergencies. We encourage you to save the following phone numbers in your contacts. All district and school text messages will come from one of these two numbers and will begin with "EUSD:", regardless of which school your child attends. Please note that these are one-way communication numbers and cannot receive replies. - Regular District and School Messages: 760-903-2335 - Emergency District and School Messages: 760-557-6031 (emergency messages will be delivered even if you have opted out of non-emergency texts)
Social Media: Follow us on Instagram and Facebook at @Encinitas_USD to celebrate student achievements, see classroom learning in action, and stay informed about district news and events.
Website: Visit eusd.net for district news, calendars, resources, and important information throughout the school year.
